About C-E-U-S e.V

The Caribbean-European United Society e.V. (C-E-U-S) is a non-profit community of interest dedicated to the improvement of cross-cultural communication between citizens of multicultural Caribbean families and the greater Berlin community. C-E-U-S develops activities which provide:

  • opportunities for cross-cultural exchange
  • self-help support for Caribbean-European families
  • information about Caribbean culture and history

C-E-U-S was founded by Barbara Saltmann and registered as a non-profit organisation in March 2004. It began as an outgrowth of community activities which were planned and organized since August of 2002. C-E-U-S has participated in, sponsored and organised many successful, Caribbean culturally themed activities which have enriched the cultural and social life of the Berlin community.

About its Founder

Born in Montego Bay, Jamaica, Barbara Saltmann has lived and worked in Germany for over 20 years. Her years of professionalism in the global tourism and human resource industries, along with her years of active engagement in the Berlin community makes her uniquely qualified to articulate Caribbean/European cultural experiences to young and old alike. Her experiences have enabled her to recognise the need for a Caribbean/European community institution which offers self-help services, and addresses the existential and social needs of Caribbean expatriates and their families. C-E-U-S is the results of her vision. Barbara is known in the Berlin community as an open-minded, friendly, empathetic and communicative person, who enjoys working with children and adults alike.
